Facebook sues Canadian adult Web site for illegal data mining

Facebook is suing a group of people and a Canadian aadult Web site publisher for allegedly trying to mine the social networking site for its users' personal data. In the case, which was brought about in a San Jose court last June, Facebook claims that servers controlled by the defendants used automated scripts "to gain unauthorized access to Facebook's 'friend finder' functionality," to make more than 200,000 requests for personal information stored on Facebook's site.
 

Knotice, Omniture partner to provide cross-channel platform

Marketing service provider Knotice Ltd. joined Omniture Inc.'s Genesis Network on December 19. The deal brings Knotice's Concentri platform to Omniture's 2,700 customers, which include Wal-Mart, Gannett, Microsoft, Neiman Marcus and General Motors, in a single dashboard.
 

Senate votes to make Do-Not-Call Registry permanent

The Senate passed a bill making the Do-Not-Call Registry permanent on December 17. The House of Representatives passed a similar bill last week.

University of Arkansas' Sam M. Walton College of Business has joined forces with Pitney Bowes MapInfo Corp. and the Gadberry Group LLC to provide the school's finance students with access to advanced spatial technology from MapInfo and the most current data intelligence products from Gadberry.
 

AmeriMark, Dr. Leonard's deal creates significant over-55 database

AmeriMark Direct has acquired Dr. Leonard's Healthcare Corporation, creating one of the largest databases in the over-55 market segment. The combined customer lists for AmeriMark and Dr. Leonard's will contain more than 6 million active customers over the age of 55.
