CBS Radio, Yahoo Launchcast enter agreement

December 05, 2008

Yahoo and CBS Radio have entered into an agreement under which CBS Radio will power Yahoo's free Internet radio service, Launchcast Radio. Launchcast's 150 stations and more than 150 CBS Radio stations will be combined in early 2009, with CBS Radio assuming sales responsibility.
 

Honda bucks mood with a warm, 'Happy' campaign

Despite trouble in the auto industry, car maker Honda is running its annual "Happy Honda days" campaign to pro­mote holiday car sales. The integrated campaign, which includes TV, search, radio, banner and an online game, began on November 24 and runs through the end of the year.
 

Burger King debuts new online video Whopper campaign

Burger King Corp. has a new non-branded online video and TV campaign to spotlight its Whopper sandwich around the world. The campaign evolves around taste tests of Burger King's trademark hamburger, challenging "Whopper virgins" — people who haven't heard of or tasted the sandwich.
 

IFloor seeks Chapter 11 protection

IFloor, a multichannel flooring retailer, said it has filed a petition for protection under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. The bankruptcy was filed in Seattle. Under Chapter 11, the company will undertake the orderly administration of its assets and creditor claims.

As DMNews has reported, consumers are abandoning credit and using cash, debit and other alternatives, such as layaway, to pay for purchases. And, while there was a slight in­crease in retail sales over the Thanksgiving weekend, the result may only be a blip in a tough season for retailers.
