Boston weekly acquires Spanish-language counterpart

Phoenix Media/Communications Group, a Boston-based alternative weekly publisher, has purchased Spanish-language weekly El Planeta for an undisclosed sum. The goal is to attract a larger Hispanic audience to the 265,000-circulation Boston Phoenix, which targets its free distribution to young, urban trendsetters.
 

Intellivent partners with frozen food home deliverer

Marketing firm Intellivent Group today announced a partnership with Schwan's Home Service Inc., the world's largest frozen food home delivery company. Intellivent has been selected to create a comprehensive advertising, sampling and promotion program for Schwan's.
 

Mimeo.com opens new plant

December 03, 2008

Mimeo.com has opened a new 75,000-square foot data center and Web-enabled print production and distribution facility in Newark, NJ. The company, which provides online, on-demand printing for business documents and marketing materials, began operations in Newark in September to meet the needs of its growing customer base, particularly in the Northeast.
 

Publicis Groupe acquires China-based W&K Communications

Media and communication giant Publicis Groupe has acquired Chinese advertising agency W&K Communications. The company will now be rebranded as Leo Burnett W&K Beijing Advertising Co. and fall under the Leo Burnett Greater China umbrella.
 

Nonprofit TNA finds e-mail more efficient than direct mail

December 02, 2008

The Trigeminal Neuralgia Association (TNA), a nonprofit health organization that serves patients with neuropathic face pain, has found that e-mail is more cost-effective than direct mail to increase Web traffic. Since the TNA teamed up with StreamSend last year to send its 'TNA Headline News' e-mail newsletters, the mailing list has doubled to 20,000, and the average open rate is at 25%. In addition, the site attracts 50,000 unique visitors a month.

Lighthouse List Company has introduced the AmeriStyle — Cash, Credit or Cell Phone list to the market. This list contains individuals who pay their bills through their mobile phones.
