Google, Yahoo still top, says Nielsen

Nielsen Online has released its October US search market share rankings. Google remains on top with 61.2% of the total number of queries, which is around 7.8 billion. Yahoo unsurprisingly remains in second with 16.9%.
 

Virginian-Pilot enters cost-saving mode

November 25, 2008

The Virginian-Pilot, a Norfolk-based newspaper with a weekday circulation of around 175,000, will cut 10% of its work force and some of its publishing operations by the end of the year. At least 125 jobs will be lost through layoffs and the closing of satellite publications.
 

RDA launches multimedia partnership with Rick Warren

November 25, 2008

Reader's Digest Association (RDA) has finalized plans with celebripastor Rick Warren to create a new membership-based business segment. "Purpose Driven Connection," named after Warren's "Purpose Driven Life" book, delivers a quarterly magazine, DVD and study materials to members for a $29 fee.
 

JamBase finds e-mail monetization in new ExactTarget e-mail ad platform

Since its ad network partner, Google Ad Manager, and its e-mail service provider (ESP), ExactTarget, integrated into one platform last week, JamBase is now running ads inside of its e-mails.
