Men's Vogue to boost rate base

Condé Nast's Men's Vogue will increase its rate base beginning in February of 2009.The boost, from 350,000 copies to 400,000 copies, comes in response to growth in subscriptions and newsstand sales.
 

NYT banks on its brand with price increase

The New York Times will raise its newsstand price from $1.25 to $1.50 beginning August 18. The company is also raising subscription prices by 4.5%. Catherine Mathis, SVP of corporate communications for New York Times Co., cited the continued rise of production costs, particularly newsprint, as one of the reasons for the rate increase.
 

Esquire puts electronic mag on newsstands

Esquire magazine has jazzed up its October cover in an effort to project a cutting-edge image and seduce newsstand buyers. The issue, which will be released in September, features a flashing electronic display on its cover, which reads "The 21st century begins now."
 

Employment Screening Journal debuts

The first issue, unveiled at the Society of Human Resources Managers (SHRM) conference in June, is ad-supported and includes a special section, the 2008-2009 Background Screening Industry Buyers Guide.
