Eyeblaster study touts online video's benefit in time

Visitors spend nearly twice as much time, an average of 60 seconds, hovering over rich media ads with video than rich media ads without video — which get an average of 30 seconds — according to a recent study conducted by Eyeblaster. The online advertising company analyzed more than 100 billion impressions from about 30,000 campaigns worldwide between the fourth quarter of 2008 through the third quarter of this year.
 

Coca-Cola to send 'Happiness Ambassadors' around the world in social media effort

Coca-Cola will run a social media campaign in which three brand ambassadors will spend next year traveling the world and documenting their trip on the Web. Armed with a blog and a video camera, the group's steps will be tracked on Expedition206.com, where fans can follow the journey and find out more information about the ambassadors and their efforts.
 

Home Skinovations launches national DRTV, Web initiative

Israel-based aesthetic device manufacturer Home Skinovations is running an integrated DRTV and Web campaign for its Silk'n SensEpil product, an at-home hair-removal device. The ads drive viewers to www.Silkn.com and the company's 1-877-DO-SILKN toll-free number. Tom Goslau, VP of marketing and business development for Home Skinovations, described the ads as "brand-response television."
 

UK-based Markco Media promotes CouponCodes4U.com in time for holiday e-commerce

Markco Media, a UK-based media and advertising company, will launch a paid search marketing campaign on November 19 to promote CouponCodes4U.com, the US counterpart to MyVoucherCodes.co.uk. Previously the site was only promoted through organic search engine marketing.

According to a poll from the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council and InfoPrint Solutions Company, 41% of consumers say they would consider ending a brand relationship due to irrelevant promotions, and another 22% say they would definitely defect from the brand for that reason.

For online retailer Lamps Plus, sending out coupons is a double-edged sword. The online retailer, which plans to send out a holiday e-mail coupon offer for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, has found that distributing coupons too often is not good for revenue. This holiday season, Lamps Plus is offering a coupon for $30 off of a $200 purchase to attract new customers.
