Who it is: Gary Schechner hired as partner and head of marketing at Rosetta, Publicis Groupe's customer engagement agency. Based in the Los Angeles office, he will report to Chief Strategy Officer Scott Sorokin.

What's his role: He will lead a team of marketing, communications, PR, content strategy, social media, events, research, production, and project management specialists to drive demand generation and strengthen and simplify the agency's brand positioning.

Where was he prior: Schechner joins Rosetta from ampm, a chain of more than 950 convenience stores owned by British Petroleum and the ARCO brand, where he headed up advertising, marketing, and social media activities. Before that he managed creative development and media for the Texaco Havoline and Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus brands as a consultant for Chevron/Texaco.

Why was he appointed: “His talents and insights are going to be invaluable to Rosetta in the years ahead as we expand globally,” Sorokin says.
