With each passing holiday season, marketers of tech toys and gadgets wish more and more for higher placement on children's holiday wish lists. Kids, meanwhile, still just want dolls and toy trucks for Christmas.

Twenga, a British retail search engine, released the results of its Dream Toy List 2013 today, and topping it were role-play items such as doll carriages, play kitchens, and kid's dressing Tables. The Vtech Inno Tab 3S kid's tablet, meanwhile, failed to crack the top 200, and "play kitchen" saw 68% more search traffic that the Xbox 360 game console.

“The fact that a video game console is less popular than a play kitchen is quite surprising,” says Herbert Kribiehly, marketing director of Twenga, which monitors search traffic during the holiday season.

It's not a new juvenile backlash against technology. Last year traditional games like dominoes and Scrabble topped the list and in 2011 it was soft toys.
