FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez and Google Chief Evangelist Vint Cerf will join several privacy, technology, and legal experts in presenting at a day-long “Internet of Things Privacy & Security” workshop in Washington, DC, on November 19. The event is free and open to the public, and will also be presented live via webcast.

Among those expounding on the implications and possible legal issues of consumer data exchanged via interconnected devices such as medical monitors and refrigerators will be Carolyn Nguyen, Microsoft's director of technology policy; Michael Beyerle, marketing manager of Innovation at GE Appliances; FTC Commissioner Maureen Ohlhausen; and Jessica Rich, director of the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection.

The conference opens at 8:30 a.m. at the FTC Conference Center at 601 New Jersey Avenue, NW in Washington. Prospective attendees should bring valid, government–issued photo IDs. A link to a live webcast of the event will be available on the workshop's web page.
