After 17 years with DreamWorks Animation, Anne Globe is stepping down as CMO of the studio responsible for such hits as the wildly successful Shrek franchise in order to start her own consulting business.

Globe's resignation comes in the wake of less than stellar ticket sales for the production company's recent release Turbo, which brought in just $69.3 million, though, according to CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, the movie will ultimately prove profitable.

As marketing chief at DreamWorks, Globe—who was recognized by Direct Marketing News in March as one of the top female CMOs in the country—focused her attentions on developing an integrated mix that comprised both traditional and digital channels, including augmented reality, billboards, mobile apps, social media, TV spots, and TrueView video ads.

Under Globe's tenure, DreamWorks expanded its partnership with YouTube to tap the video network's wide reach. As she told DMN in November 2012: “Our research…shows people get most of their movie information from YouTube.”

While at DreamWorks, Globe also developed a series on long-term partnerships between the studio and an assortment of high-profile brands among them HP, Intel, McDonalds, and Nickelodeon.

The announcement of Globe's resignation was first made in a SEC filing in which DreamWorks discussed the financial conditions surrounding her departure. Katzenberg told staffers in an internal memo that “without Anne, our company would not be where it is today.”
