News Byte: Kavanagh Named CMO of DataStax

Former VP of marketing for Salesforce.com's Service Cloud Tony Kavanagh has been named CMO of DataStax, a company that delivers data computing and analytics capabilities to companies accessing the Apache Cassandra open source database.

“My passion is to play big and disrupt markets,” Kavanagh stated in a release announcing his appointment. “DataStax is an industry-leading game changer and I am honored to join the executive leadership team to help establish DataStax as the premier NoSQL brand.”

Kavanagh will be responsible for global marketing strategy and overseeing all marketing functions. He joins DataStax from Desk.com, where he was CMO. In addition to his tenure at Salesforce, he spent 11 years in a series of marketing leaderhip roles at Oracle.
