Centro, a provider of cloud-based digital media buying software, today announced it had acquired SiteScout, a real-time bidding platform. The price was reportedly in the $40 million range.

SiteScout claims to account for some 21 billion daily impressions through sources including GoogleAdX, The Rubicon Project, and MoPub. A low-cost, self-service platform, it's designed to be put into play immediately by brands, companies, and agencies looking to control their own RTB operations.

“SiteScout shares our vision in delivering self-serve technology that puts power and control in the marketers' hands," said Shawn Riegsecker, CEO of Centro, in a release announcing the deal.

SiteScout already had its own page on the Centro website today, where it was noted that the service has 4,000 customers doing their own RTB media buying.

"SiteScout was founded on the premise of making programmatic ad buying accessible to marketers,” commented SiteScout fouder and CEO Paul Mokbel. “Centro is a perfect complement as it helps us reach more marketers and agencies instantly.”
