New Law Allows Businesses to Use Images on Stamps

President Bush signed a bill last week allowing businesses to participate in the U.S. Postal Service's customized postage program, a postal spokesman said yesterday. The program lets customers personalize their postage with pictures or images using PC Postage technology.

The one-year customized postage program test, which is slated to last through May, was limited to personal use only.

The amendment was part of an appropriations bill that Bush signed on Jan. 5. The bill ensures that the issuance of personal postage by private vendors under agreement with the USPS is not in violation of federal law.
