New AAFRC Booklet Analyzes Giving Data

The American Association of Fundraising Council's Trust for Philanthropy, Indianapolis, this month launched the first regional edition of its annual publication, Giving USA: East North Central Region.

The booklet analyzes data on personal, bequest, foundation and corporate giving and the nature of the nonprofit sector in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

The report was funded by seven community foundations in the region: the Chicago Community Trust, Cleveland Foundation, Columbus Foundation, Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Indianapolis Foundation, Kalamazoo Foundation and Milwaukee Foundation Corp.

Data for the project came from the Internal Revenue Service, Foundation Center, Taft Group and National Center for Charitable Statistics at the Urban Institute.

The booklet highlights trends that demonstrate both the capacity for giving and giving patterns across the region. The patterns are then further desegregated, where possible, to show state-by-state activity, and data are compared to and contrasted with similar patterns nationwide.
