Netscape Navigator, the 13-year-old Web browser that was the first commercial enterprise of its kind, will cease to receive techni­cal and developmental support from parent company AOL after February 1. AOL said that the near-defunct browser does not support AOL's plan to grow its advertising business. Consumers will still be able to download and use the Netscape browser, and a separate Netscape Web portal will continue to operate.
