NetFlix, Los Gatos, CA, a personalized movie-finding Web site, yesterday hired Goodby, Silverstein & Partners as its advertising agency of record. The San Francisco-based agency will develop the company's new brand strategy, which will be communicated to consumers through a multi-market campaign.

NetFlix, which launched in April 1998 as an online DVD rental store, has evolved into a personalized movie-finding destination with a rental service that allows unlimited rentals for $19.95 per month. Another feature is NetFlix's CineMatch, which offers visitors personalized movie recommendations tailored to their individual taste.
