Neiman Marcus Extends Use of SmartLabel Returns System

Newgistics Inc., Austin, TX, a provider of returns management solutions, said yesterday that Neiman Marcus Direct, the DM and fulfillment division of The Neiman Marcus Group, completed the pilot phase of Newgistics' SmartLabel returns service.


SmartLabel rolled out to the other Neiman Marcus Direct brands, including Horchow and Chef's, by the end of July. Neiman Marcus Direct began the pilot phase in February.


SmartLabel includes a prepaid, pre-addressed return shipping label on the customer's packing slip received with their merchandise. SmartLabel's barcode links the package to the customer's invoice.


The SmartLabel return shipping fee is deducted from the customer's refund once the package is received by Neiman Marcus.


"Neiman Marcus' SmartLabel system is integrated into their call system, and they can tell a customer the status of their return immediately," Newgistics spokesperson Remi Watson said. "They can also credit a customer immediately if the return is in the system."
