NBCi Launches Direct Marketing Division

NBC Internet Inc., New York, said yesterday that it will launch NBCi Direct, a division focused on direct marketing through the Internet.


NBCi Direct, which is owned by General Electric, will consist of e-mail lists of approximately 9 million customers who have given permission to accept targeted e-commerce offers.


NBCi Direct's initial client list includes GE Service Management Inc., which supplies warranties for consumer appliances and electronics; Egreetings, a provider of electronic cards and gifts; itarget.com, a direct e-mail marketing company; and NBCi's own XOOM.com, Snap, ComFind and NBC.com services.
