The National Basketball Association and American Express yesterday debuted an online basketball trivia contest.

The 12-week contest, dubbed the "American Express Trivia Challenge," consists of a weekly series of four trivia questions on the Web site about a featured NBA player or coach. The trivia focuses on current and former players and coaches, including Kevin Garnett, Magic Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, Pat Riley, David Robinson and Isiah Thomas, who were featured in American Express television commercials aired during the NBA All-Star weekend in February.

The contest will be advertised on NBA.com and NBA.com TV and in NBA Inside Stuff Magazine, Hoop Magazine and Yahoo! Sports' NBA section.

The winners will receive a three-day trip to New York City, including New York Knicks tickets, a tour of Madison Square Garden, the chance to produce, edit and star in a studio segment that may air on NBA.com TV, a tour of NBA Entertainment Production Studios, a chance to meet NBA Entertainment on-air personalities, and a $250 gift certificate at the NBA Store. The grand prize will be awarded June 24.
