National Postal Forum draws crowds

This year's National Postal Forum has drawn more than 4,000 mailing industry professionals to Nashville. They're here to learn – with more than 14 business tracks offering more than 130 workshops. Learning opportunities range from management basics like hiring, interviewing and managing marketing databases to expedited technologies and package intelligence.

Attendees are also here to buy. More than 120 companies are exhibiting at NPF in an exhibit hall that spans 125,000 square feet. The aisles are surprisingly crowded, with attendees standing four and five people deep as they observe demonstrations.

When the exhibit hall opened this morning, idle observers might have believed a big sale awaited those waiting for the doors to open. By noon, the crowds haven't really diminished. As I walked past demonstration stations by Pitney Bowes, I heard orders being discussed. That same scene was repeated elsewhere on the floor. Mailers are looking for ways to be more efficient and cost effective, and they seem to have found plenty of products and services at NPF that do just that.
