National Data Corp. Acquires Medisoft

National Data Corp., Atlanta, Friday said it intends to acquire MediSoft, a physicians' practice management system based in Mesa, AZ, along with the company's national distribution network.


Once the purchase is final, NDC said it will combine its existing physician systems with MediSoft's systems, giving the company a network representing over 100,000 Microsoft Windows desktops in physicians' offices.


Walter Hoff, CEO of NDC Health Information Systems said, "We now have the largest Microsoft Windows installed base in [this marketplace]." He said the development would give the company 1,500 dealers nationwide.


"This acquisition complements our unique franchise with its broad base of offerings for physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, payers and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Our proven competence in developing and operating a large scale point of care systems base, the world's largest real-time health-care information network and a broad array of information management solutions continues to set us apart," said Hoff.


NDC provides health information services and electronic commerce solutions.
