Napster Sees Site Traffic Increase

Napster's legal battles with the recording industry may not be such a bad thing after all. In the wake of a Federal injunction that would have shut the music swapping service down, Internet traffic on the Napster site rose 92 percent, according to Nielson//NetRatings, New York.

Napster.com had 849,196 visitors to its site on Friday. More importantly, and perhaps more disturbing to the record companies suing Napster, 22 percent of visitors downloaded Napster's software.

Napster was ordered to shut down its site last week, but received a postponement on Friday.
