MyYearbook adds video to socializing with new VideoEgg partnership

Online video site VideoEgg Inc. partnered with social networking site MyYearbook.com to give 1.5 million young adults video publishing capability.

Now MyYearbook lets users automatically stream and store videos on its site.

"Different from a YouTube that allows users to embed video into other sites, the VideoEgg platform is directly integrated into partner sites," said Kevin Sladek, chief strategy officer at VideoEgg.

Currently MySpace users often use YouTube or similar technology to embed video. The VideoEgg technology difference may offer unique advantages.

"From the partner perspective, integrating VideoEgg into their site experience keeps users engaged on their site and it also provides a new revenue stream through VideoEgg's Ad network, the Eggnetwork," he said.

MyYearbook.com, New Hope, PA, is a social network populated by teens, college student and recent graduates that grew to 1.5 million users over the past year. The firm joins other social networking sites using the VideoEgg platform including Bebo, Hi5, Dogster and CarSpace.

With the integration of video on a social networking site that includes millions of people, copyright is a concern. Earlier this month Viacom made YouTube remove clips from its Comedy Central properties like "The Colbert Report" and "The Jon Stewart Show."

VideoEgg realizes the importance of protecting copyrighted material.

"VideoEgg unequivocally supports the rights of copyright holders and is committed to ensuring their rights are respected," Mr. Sladek said. "We strive to continue to be a good partner with sites, large and small, to exhaust every possible avenue in protecting copyright holders from online piracy."
