Conservation organization World Wildlife Fund has introduced its first-ever holiday gift catalog, offering consumers a chance to purchase gifts that give back.

WWF, Washington, D.C., works to save endangered species, protect endangered habitats and address global threats such as over fishing. It has 1.2 million members in the United States and nearly 5 million supporters worldwide.

The catalog showcases 38 species of animals that are available for symbolic adoption. All funds donated are used to protect endangered and threatened animals around the world.

All adoptions come with a formal adoption certificate, a color photo of the adopted animal and a species description card. Adoptions of $100 or more also come with a soft animal plush representative of the species adopted, a WWF gift box and a custom frame for the adoption certificate and photo. Online donations come with a personalized electronic adoption certificate, screensavers and wallpaper customized to the animal adopted.

The catalog also features 40 conservation initiatives people can support, including the Extraordinary Gifts program that enables gift-givers to support specific conservation projects in regions around the world.

These larger priced gifts, from $1,000 to $2.5 million, are unique in that the funds go directly to the project chosen. Some of the projects gift-givers can chose from include relocating bison or rhinos to a wildlife protected area, purchasing a set of sea turtle or pygmy elephant tracking collars to monitor their populations or providing an educational scholarship to a young girl in the developing world.

The most expensive gift opportunity, priced at $2.5 million, endows a long-term solution to protecting endangered tigers in key tiger protection areas around the world.

The catalog is also filled with many exclusive photos from WWF photographers, information about conservation issues and fun facts about the animals the funds go to support.
