The Talbots Inc. has determined the locations for its first Talbots Mens stores, the Hingham, MA, company said yesterday.

Expected to open in April 2003, the locations are Westport, CT; Worthington, OH, which is near Columbus, OH; and in the Philadelphia area in King of Prussia, PA.

"We already have highly successful Talbots Misses stores at each of these three locations, and placing our Talbots Mens stores there will allow us to test different store formats and fine-tune the concept," chairman/president/CEO Arnold B. Zetcher said in a statement. "We also expect to come back in the fall with three more new stores for a total of six Talbots Mens stores in 2003, as well as open additional stores in 2004." A "more aggressive rollout" is expected to begin in 2005, he added.

The stores are to have about 4,000 gross square feet, with about 3,300 selling square feet.

The assortment was described as appropriate for business casual environments and weekend activities. It includes sport coats, dress trousers, dress shirts, sweaters, casual pants, jeans, sport shirts, outerwear and ties. Talbots Mens will not sell suits or shoes.
