Sharper Image's Sales Continue Nosedive

Sharper Image Corp.'s company revenues for the first quarter ended April 30 decreased 26 percent to $106.8 million. Same-store sales decreased 29 percent during the same period.

The San Francisco-based merchant reported a net loss for the quarter of $12.6 million, or $0.84 per share, compared to a net loss of $4.6 million, or $0.30 per share, last year.

Catalog/direct marketing sales decreased 16 percent to $23.5 million while Internet sales decreased 26 percent to $17.2 million. Wholesale sales decreased 45 percent to $6.5 million.
