Sales Rise for Chico's, Neiman Marcus

Two multichannel retailers reported sales increases for February yesterday.


Chico's FAS Inc. reported sales totaling $83.5 million for the four weeks ended Feb. 26, a 24.2 percent gain over sales for the year-ago period. Comparable-store sales for the Fort Myers, FL-based retailer of private-label women's clothing and accessories increased 9.2 percent for the month.


The Neiman Marcus Group Inc., Dallas, reported a 6.5 percent increase in sales for the four weeks ended Feb. 26. Sales totaled $275 million for the month.


Comparable revenue in the specialty retail stores segment, which includes Neiman Marcus stores and Bergdorf Goodman, rose 6.6 percent in the period. In the Neiman Marcus Direct division, comparable revenue increased 20.2 percent in February.
