Gift retailer RedEnvelope has lost its president and chief operating officer to Restoration Hardware, according to a statement released Friday.

The San Francisco Internet retailer and cataloger said Tom Bazzone will be executive vice president and chief operating officer at the specialty retailer.

Bazzone played a key role in gaining RedEnvelope prominence as a retailer of high-end gifts. Products sold on redenvelope.com, which was succeeded by a mail order sibling, include global positioning tools, "spa in the box" and gourmet food baskets.

The company claims it will turn profitable this third quarter, helped by satisfactory Father's Day sales. More than 500,000 consumers have bought from the retailer since 1997. Half of those customers bought again last year, according to the company.

Based in Corte Madera, CA, Restoration Hardware is a specialty retailer of home furnishings, functional and decorative hardware, and related merchandise based on classic and American styles. It sells through retail stores, catalog and online at restorationhardware.com.
