Garfield, NJ-based Popular Club Plan, a direct selling catalog company, laid off 75 employees yesterday, according to the New Jersey Department of Labor.

The company -- which is more than 50 years old and at times has been a division of J. Crew, Fingerhut and Federated Department Stores -- sells clothing, housewares, jewelry and electronics.

Popular Club filed a federally mandated WARN notice with the New Jersey Department of Labor 60 days before the layoffs.

This is the third round of job cuts for the company, according to a spokesman for the New Jersey Department of Labor.

Attempts to reach Popular Club Plan for comment were unsuccessful.
