Neiman Marcus Begins Using Newgistics' SmartLabel

Newgistics Inc., Austin, TX, a provider of returns management solutions for retail companies, today announced that Neiman Marcus Direct, the catalog publishing division of The Neiman Marcus Group, started using Newgistics' SmartLabel returns program as of Feb. 14.

Newgistics' SmartLabel service includes a pre-paid, pre-addressed return shipping label on the customer's packing slip received with their merchandise.

SmartLabel's barcode links the package to the customer's invoice and will provide package visibility back to Neiman Marcus early in the returns process.

"It's a pilot program at this point, but once they have it firmly established and utilized, they plan to launch it across other Neiman Marcus brands," Sarah Lambie, a senior account manager at Blanc & Otus, the public relations firm representing Newgistics. "Newgistics has a long-term agreement with Neiman Marcus."

The SmartLabel return shipping fee is deducted from the refund once the package is received by Neiman Marcus, Lambie said. The cost is $7.95. The primary advantage is convenience for the customer who doesn't want to stand in line for 30 minutes at the post office to ship it back. They can drop the return anywhere into the U.S. postal system.
