Limited Brands Sales, Income Rise

Limited Brands Inc., Columbus, OH, reported yesterday that comparable-store sales for the fourth quarter of 2003 increased 8 percent while net sales of $3.23 billion were 9 percent higher than sales of $2.97 billion for the 2002 quarter.


Operating income reached $641.5 million compared with $587.6 million last year. Net income totaled $387.6 million, up from $352.9 million a year ago.


The company also said that comparable-store sales for the fiscal year were up 4 percent and that net sales of $8.93 billion increased 6 percent from $8.45 billion the previous year. Operating income was $963.1 million, up from $837.9 million, while net income totaled $716.8 million compared with $501.7 million a year ago.
