Plus-size women's apparel multichannel merchant Charming Shoppes Inc. has selected Fry Inc. as its e-commerce vendor, with new e-commerce sites scheduled to launch this fall for Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and Catherines Plus Sizes.

The project will include strategic planning, creative and user experience design, multisite e-commerce platform development, an integrated order management and call center application, and site hosting for the three core brands.

Fry will build the sites using its Open Commerce Platform, a multisite e-commerce service that includes an integrated order management system and call center application designed to bridge the gap between Charming Shoppes' stores and online channels. Fry will also support integration with Charming Shoppes' point-of-sale system to allow store associates to reference, order and ship online products that are not available in the store directly to the customer.

Each site will include Web 2.0 features, such as quick-look and persistent cart, as well as widgets for a more engaging user experience.
