Former DoubleClick Global Media Boss Joins ShopWiki

Online search shopping site ShopWiki brings Barry Salzman, former president of DoubleClick Global Media, onboard as the company's first chief operating officer.

Mr. Salzman will expand the six-month-old ShopWiki's infrastructure and extend the company to an additional five countries by the end of this year. He joins a bunch of DoubleClick executives now working at ShopWiki, New York.

"The challenge with all startups is to establish the right balance between maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit and establishing a scalable infrastructure to support future growth," Mr. Salzman said. "My goal at ShopWiki is to establish a culture embodying that balance."

ShopWiki is a shopping search engine that was founded in April by Kevin Ryan, former DoubleClick CEO.

Mr. Salzman brings more than 20 years of leadership and business experience, including five years as president of DoubleClick's international operations. He served at DoubleClick from 1997 to 2002, first as president of DoubleClick International, then as president of DoubleClick Global Media.

He also developed and implemented DoubleClick's international startup strategy, launching both media and technology enterprises outside the United States. With a team of more than 900 employees across 24 countries, he grew revenue to upwards of $400 million.

Mr. Salzman's prior work experience also included positions with AEA Investors Inc., McKinsey & Company and Salomon Brothers Inc.

Mr. Salzman spent the last two years in Australia, pursuing his passion for photography on a full-time basis. His work has appeared in publications including Vanity Fair, Vogue Entertaining + Travel, Harper's Bazaar, Ad News, Australian Geographic and The Sydney Morning Herald.

He received a bachelor of business science with a distinction in marketing from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

Mr. Salzman now joins former colleagues Mr. Ryan and ShopWiki cofounder Dwight Merriman, who held the position of DoubleClick co-founder and chief technology officer.
