DHL Smart & Global Mail Forms From 3 Firms

Deutsche Post World Net announced the launch of DHL Smart & Global Mail yesterday, uniting the domestic and international capabilities of Deutsche Post Global Mail, SmartMail Services and QuikPak under the DHL umbrella brand.


While DHL Smart & Global Mail shares the DHL umbrella with DHL Express, the two companies will remain separate business units under the parent company, Deutsche Post World Net.


Through its distribution network of 31 processing centers, DHL Smart & Global Mail provides secure distribution of business correspondence, direct mail, catalogs, publications and parcels worldwide. Value-added services include production services, online tracking and reporting, address correction, mail activity reports and chargeback systems.


Deutsche Post Global Mail announced its intent to buy SmartMail Services and QuikPak on May 11. The acquisition of SmartMail Services closed May 28, and the QuikPak deal closed June 28. These acquisitions produced the largest U.S. private mail service by combining Deutsche Post Global Mail, the market leader in international mail solutions; SmartMail Services, the market leader in U.S. domestic expedited flat mail and small parcel delivery services; and QuikPak, the nation's largest provider of catalog fulfillment services.
