Chico's Sales Climb 37.9 Percent for 5-Week Period

Chico's FAS Inc. reported yesterday that sales increased 37.9 percent to $39.8 million for the five weeks ending Jan. 5 from $28.8 million for the five-week period ending Dec. 30, 2000.

Comparable store sales for company-owned stores rose 14.2 percent from the comparable period a year ago.

For the 48 weeks ending Jan. 5, total sales increased 47.6 percent to $349.2 million from $236.6 million for the same period ending Dec. 30, 2000. Comparable store sales for company-owned stores rose 16.7 percent.
