Catalina Marketing International Inc., a targeted marketing solutions company for the consumer goods and retail industries, has acquired the entire patent portfolio of, a New York-based provider of online promotional capabilities for Internet retailers.

Catalina Marketing International, St. Petersburg, FL, received the exclusive assignment for two issued patents covering the process of distributing and redeeming electronic coupons as well as 14 patent applications covering the distribution and redemption of coupons based on clearly identified targeting methodologies.

"The acquisition of these patents further expands our product portfolio, while keeping in line with our business philosophy of providing consumer value based on actual purchase preferences," said David Diamond, president of emerging businesses and chief vision officer at Catalina Marketing.

"The issued patents and patent applications that we acquired from can provide the same targeting capabilities for online consumers that we have provided for supermarket consumers since our founding," he said.
