AGA Catalog Marketing & Design to acquire Hershey Communications

AGA Catalog Marketing & Design said it will acquire catalog design agency Hershey Communications of New York.

The decision was made last week, and the acquisition should be final next month. No information on purchase cost was available on Friday, said Andy Russell, AGA's president and chief executive officer.

AGA will absorb the entire Hershey Communications operation -- including clients -- and move into the marketing and design firm's New York offices in March.

Hershey's client roster includes recognizable names in sports, the arts, retail advertising and apparel mail order. Russell could not divulge those names until the acquisition is final.

Ed Hershey, president of Hershey's, which celebrated its 18th anniversary this month, will stay on and supervise "Customer Groups," Russell said.

"One of the things an acquisition such as this can provide us is access to resources and expertise that are different than our own," Russell said. "We are broadening our capabilities to offer effective communications vehicles for both existing and new market segments within the catalog, online and retail marketing industries."
