MTV Networks buys Quizilla.com teen site

Viacom Inc.'s MTV Networks bought Quizilla.com, an online user-generated community of teen authors ages 14 and up, marking its first major foray in social media and strengthening its teen site portfolio.

The site at www.quizilla.com attracts female teenagers who create and share quizzes, fiction, non-fiction, polls, poetry and other content. Gorilla Nation Media LLC sold the site to the Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group, New York.

The Jordan, Edmiston Group Inc., a New York media investment bank, represented Gorilla Nation in this deal.

Quizilla generated 4.7 million unique visitors from around the world last month, according to comScore Media Metrix. It joins a clutch of MTVN-owned teen sites that include TheN.com and Neopets.com as well as August acquisitions Shockwave.com and AddictingGames.com.

Nickelodeon last month introduced its first parent-focused online community at www.parentsconnect.com.
