MSNBC.com, BET.com Reach Content Distribution Agreement

News portal MSNBC.com and urban music and culture portal BET.com said yesterday they have a content distribution agreement that gives both sites access to new Web users.

MSNBC.com will supply BET.com with daily news feeds while BET.com, a subsidiary of BET Holdings II Inc., the parent company of Black Entertainment Television, will provide MSNBC with feature content to be used on its Race in America news section.

MSNBC.com believes the special section highlights issues concerning people of color and reports it is "featuring stories focusing on African-American issues in honor of Black History Month in conjunction with BET.com."

"BET.com is a perfect complement to MSNBC.com's Race in America news section, " said Merril Brown, editor in chief of MSNBC.com. "This alliance allows us to reach out to our diversified user base," he said.

BET.com joins The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Newsweek and Zdnet on MSNBC.com's list of news sources.

In the first effort, MSNBC ran BET.com's "Black Voters Pessimistic about Bush," a report by the Web sites senior managing editor Marilyn McCraven.
