MP3 Firm Gets On Track With Web Site

MP3 Tracker Inc., Chicago, became the newest entry in the growing online music downloading industry when it announced the launch of its Web site this week.

The site, www.mp3tracker.com, will leverage a search engine that accesses more than 300,000 popular songs. A page of song titles and downloading directions - that are specific to each file - follow viewer searches. The Web site also offers content derived from agreements with online news services.

Legal uncertainties about Internet users downloading copyrighted music have allowed MP3-based sites like mp3tracker.com to grow in numbers while enjoying promising viewer statistics during the past year. The main audience for these Web-based music companies is college students.
