Moog Foundation Synthesizes Web

The Bob Moog Foundation for Electronic Music launched its Web presence in memory of its founder, Bob Moog, the inventor of the first synthesizer keyboard who died a year ago.

The launch includes a 20-second "Moment of Moog," where the Asheville, NC-based firm requests that radio stations play a short memorial musical piece recorded on one of Moog's Minimoog Voyager, his most famous invention.

The Moog Music catalog includes other electronic musical instruments like Etherwave theremins, Moogerfooger effects modules, Minimoog Voyager, Little Phatty synthesizers and the Moog PianoBar.

The objectives of the foundation are to create endowed scholarships at the University of North Carolina --Asheville, Berklee School of Music and Cornell University, and an outreach/mentoring program that brings electronic music into disadvantaged schools.

The foundation will also create a Memorial Museum in Moog's name and sponsor electronic music competitions and concerts that would foster innovation in the field.
