News Byte: Plumbers, Lawyers, and Hairdressers Gain Access to Mobile Ads
NearWoo targets mobile ads within blocks of a business.
Near Woo, a local mobile ad network, announced today it had integrated its service with Google's DoubleClick Ad Exchange (AdX), giving local businesses easier, cheaper access to advertising on popular business, sports, and weather mobile apps and websites.
Up to now, says a NearWoo spokesman, locally focused businesses such as dentists, restaurants, accountants, and nail spas were frozen out of these media outlets because they required a minimum $5,000 monthly budget. The new arrangement with AdX lowers the cost of entry for these players to as little as $100, focusing appeals to block-square areas surrounding their places of business.
“This agreement is a major milestone for NearWoo and for local advertisers looking to motivate consumers to act,” says NearWoo CEO Jason Crilly. “Local businesses can now target customers whose mobile phones are tuned to the most popular and highly trafficked websites on the Internet.”
NearWoo says some 4,000 local businesses use its service, which operates on the Google Cloud Platform.
