MMA pushes self regulation in FCC's net neutrality

Share this article:

In its ongoing look into net neutrality, the FCC has opened up its NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING on the subject. The MMA have put out a statement aligning with industry self regulation and says that they are aiming to take a proactive role in discussing best practices.

“The MMA will continue to take a proactive and cooperative role with the FCC on discussing matters of industry self-regulation.  MMA members are strong believers in the economic and progressive benefits for industry stakeholders and consumers alike in a self-regulatory framework that is built on existing consumer protection laws and regulatory policy.  The MMA's Consumer Best Practices (CBPs) regulate the manner in which companies and individuals practice mobile marketing, along with recourse for reported infractions.

The organization and its members maintain that innovation defines the industry that we represent, and we will continue to cooperate with the regulatory community to ensure that all the facts are clearly understood as it contemplates potential changes to existing policy.”

The comment period is open until March 5th.
