Miramax Flick Offered as $3.49 Internet Rental
SightSound Technologies and Miramax Films recently began offering a $3.49 download of "Guinevere," a 2-year-old Miramax romance title.Available at www.guineverethemovie.com, www.sightsound.com and www.miramax.com, the online video offer is a 24-hour download rental. SightSound, Mount Lebanon, PA, is using encryption, watermarking and other content management technologies to provide security for the distribution of the film.
"Guinevere" is the first of 12 films that Miramax, Los Angeles, will be releasing online via the SightSound technology, as part of an agreement announced last spring. The titles and release dates of the remaining 11 movies are still to be determined.
Other entertainment companies that have teamed up with SightSound for similar releases include Comedy Central, Metafilmics and Lyric Studios.
