Microsoft Selects Sagent For Database Management

Sagent, an e-business intelligence solutions provider, said yesterday that Microsoft has selected it to help Microsoft build an internal marketing database to better serve its customers.

Microsoft will use the Mountain View, CA company's software capabilities to manage, maintain and fulfill a large database containing more than 190 million records from within Microsoft SQL Server 2000.

Sagent's software is expected to cleanse the records and profile them so that information and offers relating to Microsoft products and services are directed to those customers who would most likely be interested in them.

In addition, the knowledge harvested from the database will give

Microsoft, Redmond, WA, a better understanding of customer needs and a quicker assessment of market trends.

The project began last month and is scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter.
