Microsoft restructures Central Marketing Group

Microsoft has realigned its Central Marketing Group, naming David Webster chief strategy officer and Gayle Troberman chief creative officer.

Neither move is considered a promotion, according to the company, but rather a formalized reflection of the role each had been filling for some time.

Webster will oversee long-term strategy for the Microsoft brand, focusing on two-to-five year strategy, and will continue to play a role in all key campaigns.

As chief creative officer, Troberman will ensure brand messages penetrate target audiences. She will work with both internal teams as well as agency partners for both traditional and digital efforts.

The restructuring also includes Karen Edwards being named global marketing and communications strategy lead; Kevin Peck as head of global brand strategy; Steve Petitpas as lead for digital; and Megan Hanley to head up media, according to AdAge.

All Central Marketing executives will continue to report to Mich Mathews, SVP of the Central Marketing Group.
