Microsoft, Compaq Ink 3-Year Deal

Microsoft Corp. said yesterday it made a three-year agreement with Houston-based personal computer maker Compaq Computer Corp. to feature Microsoft's Internet service on some of Compaq's computers.

The consumer-targeted Internet service will be pre-installed on new Compaq Presarios this summer and will attempt to make signing up and using an Internet service as easy as using a keyboard.

The deal also incorporates the Redmond, WA-based company's MSN services into Compaq's Internet PCs. Compaq will feature MSN Internet access in its online sign-up process and will develop an Internet keyboard with one-touch access to the Web.
