Microsoft bids $1.2b on Norwegian search firm
Microsoft Corp. has placed a bid for 6.6 billion Norwegian crowns ($1.2 billion US) to buy Norwegian business search software company Fast Search & Transfer. The software manufacturer offered to pay a 42% premium for Fast, a search provider that lets companies comb internal corporate documents and data. It also provides a search engine so that companies can help consumers navigate their Web sites easier. Fast's board unanimously recommended that shareholders accept the Microsoft offer.
