Merkle promotes Dempster to CMO

Relationship marketing agency Merkle promoted Craig Dempster to CMO, effective January 1. He has worked for the company since 2006, most recently as VP of its Content Solutions Group. He reports to chairman and CEO David Williams.

In the newly created position, Dempster is responsible for the marketing and communication of the company's brand through press, whitepapers, company trade shows and advertising. He will also communicate the company's emerging capabilities unique to each industry vertical.

“Our biggest goal for year ahead is to deliver Merkle's brand message to the vertical markets we support,” Dempster said. “We have always focused on Merkle's CRM brand, and now we're starting to develop solutions and staff based on the needs of each vertical – and we have to think about unique ways we will communicate to each one of those verticals.”

Dempster declined to specify how many direct reports he has. The major industries Merkle works with include retail, pharmaceutical, travel and entertainment, insurance, financial services and fundraising.
