Mercedes-Benz Takes Accessories to the Web

Mercedes-Benz USA plans to start selling its brand of automotive accessories, gifts, collectibles and apparel at its Web site after signing a fulfillment software and services deal with Connextions.net.

Connextions.net, Orlando, FL, will implement back-end technology that will fuse the car company's future Web sales with accessory-oriented sales from its print catalog and nationwide network of dealerships.

Other services to be executed by Connextions.net include order receiving, inventory management, warehousing, packaging and shipping.

Mercedes-Benz USA, Montvale, NJ, has traditionally offered its brand of accessories and gifts in its The Collection catalog. The company did not say when this e-commerce capability would be in full operation for Mercedes-Benz's list of 1,800 accessory products.

Connextions.net gains another big-name fulfillment client with the deal, building on notable firms such as CBS Inc. and 3M. Financial terms of the agreement were not announced.
